Curated by Midori Takada

When jazz first came to Japan at the head of the twentieth century, some wondered if local musicians would be able to build upon the genre, instead of only replicating what was done across the ocean. Over the course of the years, many groups seeked to prove otherwise; Ton-Klami is perhaps one of the exploratory examples. The trio, made up of pianist Masahiko Satoh, reedist Kang Tae Hwan and percussionist and LGW21 curator Midori Takada, proves that there are still many paths to explore within the genre.
