This week, it's the new age & folk-jazz pioneer who has been curated by Devendra Banhart as well as Moor Mother for Le Guess Who? 2018. Beverly Glenn-Copeland's 'Ever New' was self-released on cassette in 1986, and still sounds as mesmerizing as ever. The album, 'Keyboard Fantasies', was recorded entirely on DX-7 synthesizer and TR-707 drum machine in the northern Canadian town of Huntsville, and lies somewhere between digital new-age and (accidentally) early Detroit techno experiments. 'Ever New' is the peaceful and meditative opening track of the album, reissued last year via Séance Centre. Listen below. Want to discover more? Check out our official 2018 playlist. Keyboard Fantasies by Beverly Glenn-Copeland "Ever New," which opens Keyboard Fantasies, is the kind of thing you might expect to soundtrack a nature montage in the '80s. Copeland's tender vocal performance, which celebrates the oneness of human life and flora and fauna alike, borders on schmaltz, but it's so heartfelt that it's hard not to fall under its spell." - Resident Advisor At Le Guess Who?, Glenn-Copeland will perform with a five-piece band, breathing new life into his past works. Also performing at the festival are a.o. Art Ensemble of Chicago, Devendra Banhart, Vashti Bunyan, Circuit des Yeux, Jessica Pratt, Anoushka Shankar, Emel Mathlouthi, and many more.
